Made it to Liverpool by train from London and with the station we needed closed in Liverpool they had excellent alternatives - one track over to the Merseyrail train to central Liverpool. I always find deals and if we got a Two Together Railcard we got first class tickets at a big discount. And the first day in London we collected our railcard with our happy face passport photos, our train tickets and here we are just like clockwork.
The London Euston station we left from - huge and very nice.
And the trains in most of Europe are awesome. If the USA wasn't so big and open we could have these too but not sure how we could make it work!
Studying the first class menu I actually opted for a fresh fruit bowl with yogurt and honey. I'm not trying to impress anyone because I had already had a chocolate croissant, cola and candy bars so time to scale back a bit.
And we got a little treat and I loved the name.
The toilets on the plane were a bit complicated but a lloud female voice told you to shut the door, lock the door and open the door so it did work very well.
And we arrived!!
And even though we waiting in the very windy cool day trying to figure out the hopon/hopoff bus tour we did get to Ross' bucket list item - the first or second largest Cathedral in Europe and I must say it was quite awesome!
This is just a small part of it and that is Ross way down in the center aisle.
We stopped at Albert Dock and the Pier where the Ferry Cross the Mersey will be our goal for tomorrow. Not sure we wanted dinner at the Diner as we already had reservations at The London Carriage Works restaurant at our hotel called the Hope Street Hotel and apparently famous "musicians" have stayed here in the past.
They called this the "stripey bacon" building and it was at one time associated with the big shipping companies that docked here.
And of course the street where the Beatles had a lot of action and I just happened to see this place out the window. It's all about football (soccer to us)and Beatles and other music here in Liverpool.
Next visit was Metropolitan Cathedral which was very modern, Catholic, with tons of stained glass and modern artwork inside.
And our hotel is at 40 Hope Street so this is just down the block and the name is intriguing but not too appealing to me.
So more tomorrow after the Beatles Fab4 Taxi Tour and Ferry Cross the Mersey. We met a lovely couple sitting next to us at dinner tonight from London and we made plans to meet them for dinner tomorrow night if they can get the reservations. So bedtime in Liverpool.....and we prayed a lot as did all of England for all the people of Las Vegas and all over the world who are in sorrow over the mass shooting - crazies all around but most people are wonderful.
