Backing up a big - my dessert from last night in France - 2nd visit to this great restaurant - crepes with whipped cream, ice cream and raspberry coulis (sauce) - it was mmmmmmm gooood!
Back to Istanbul - the toilet in our room looks like a throne - the tiles behind are silver and gold - you get a lot more for your money in Istanbul vs Paris!!!! The bathroom is as big as half the apartment in Paris:)
The room is bigger than the apartment! - the view out the balcony is the Sea of Marmara and of course lots of buildings!
The famous Blue Mosque at night - quite a sight on our way home from the restaurant - where of course with all the hills, carpet shops, narrow winding streets - we got lost! Not to fear - we found our way back and saw new sights along the way.
The Hagia Sofia (Ayasofya) - a Christian church, huge and beautiful - we will be visiting these places when we do our favorite - the hop on/hop off tours. When we walked by a Turk says "you must go this way" - heck no, not if we don't want to.

Started with Karisik Meze Tabagi (Appetizers) - mmmm they were good - The bread is somewhat like pita (Greek) or naan (Indian) bread - big, fluffed up until the air leaves and so good, served very hot with butter and crumbled goat cheese.
My meal, a little potato, rice and the best: Kofte kebap (4 meatballs and the best I have ever had). I even had 2 glasses of local house wine. Ross had Anadolu tavuk (Anatolian stuffed chicken). The final bill - less than $60 for all this and 2 wine, 2 beer and a bottle of water!
Off to complimentary breakfast in the hotel now - can't wait to see what it is! -- Gunaydin - means good morning - thank goodness for my little translator!
