Movin' On!

First off - I AM NO HEMINGWAY, JUST LIKE THE QUOTE! What now? Niece Sara is off to her new position in Vilseck, Germany, in Bavaria tomorrow - I have sent her off with an envelope of small pieces of paper with daily quotes and a homemade monkey blankie! We hope to see her in May in Prague if not before. Molly and Josh and Lily will be visiting us a few times in the next month or so as he applies for medical residences in various and sundry states.
I loved Charleston and Savannah and the perfect weather we had - came back to snow and a lot of frozen flowers!
Final thoughts and wrapup: Below is the US Customs House in Charleston - note the palm trees and blue sky. Note "Daughters of Confederacy" building - many homes have entry staircases like this. Women went up one side and men the other - so the men would not get a glimpse of the women's ankles. Next is the US Customs House in Charleston - how beautiful is that???

Back to my morbid favorites - this is a graveyard, Bonaventure was a cemetery - the difference is that a graveyard is attached to a church and a cemetery is free-standing. This is a double house in Savannah - built for two daughters by their father as they fought over everything and could not live together. After it was built they fought over who would get which house!!!!! Update on the Redford movie "The Conspirator" - funny coincidence but last night I was watching a show on the History Channel about Lincoln's assassination and who else was discussed but Mary Suratt, the lone woman of 8 conspirators; John Wilkes Booth was only 26. She ran a boardinghouse and tavern in the North. She and the 7 men were hanged in a public hanging. Her skirts were tied lightly at the ankles so in case her skirt blew up in the wind she would not need to be embarrassed. Can't wait until the movie comes out.
