Thankful for a Lot of Things!

Had a "Lucy Day" this week - so great and we are so fortunate. I got a great deal on a "slightly" used kid's cash register that scans, has a conveyer, money drawer - all for $3.99 plus our battery - I printed off money and had Chucky Cheese tokens for coin. Wierd thing was the website to print paper money would not let me print these tiny US$ but I had no problem printing the Euro - so we have another world traveller in our midst!

Snow on Saturday rather surprised me but it was white and pretty and is almost all melted.

We have been BUSY - yesterday we saw "Silent Night" opera in St. Paul. It was amazing when on December 24, 1914 in the heat of WWI, much of the Western Front fell silent as ordinary soldiers made temporary peace with the enemy for 24 hours. It is estimated that 100,000 men, mainly British and Germans, took part. They played soccer, sang songs, shared drinks and buried their dead together. It is seen as one of the bright moments amid the slaughter of the Great War, which took the lives of 14 million. It was in 3 languages at different times (English, German and French) and I tried very hard to interpret without reading the overhead words!!! Always the traveller. Hitler was apparently then a young Colonel in the Germany army and said "Such a thing should not happen in wartime". If only he could have been stopped at that time how different our world would be.

This week: Looking forward to Ross' brother Preston arriving tomorrow and niece Sara and her mom Kathy arriving on Wednesday. We will have 10 for the holiday and the sun is supposed to shine and warm us.
