Quote of the Day from my current reading: If only we had no interests, things would be much simpler.
Had a great Easter Day with sun, family and Lucy sporting her "zumba dress", Easter bunny polka dot rain boots and the pink baseball mitt from Bunny - she is surely a princess in her own mind. Sitting here on our back yard thinking "Who shall I try to hit with this ball?:
What Life is all about - what a difference a year makes! Here we are with Alex and Lucy and a year ago Amy could barely climb up this tiny incline and did not have much use of her left arm and leg but was tired of the cane. We all sat together in our church this morning listening to the sermon - mentioning loss and "things that do not come back to you", about Lenten journeys and that "God is under our feet and over our heads"...comforting words and so true.
I hid the eggs - 21 of them for 2 children - Lucy not able to figure out if she got her "half" - BUT Alex cana nd so can we. Chris watching over the sharing - also training to run the Lake Minnetonka half marathon this coming Sunday. We will all meet him at the finish and hopefully get out to eat breakfast and once again celebrate May Day which just happens to be the day they got engaged in 1998 in Grand Forks - with us trying to call from a pay phone in Italy to see if it really happened.
What else? In the mail today addressed to me "How Medicare Works" - hey I have almost a year 'til then. Also getting to the end of a book I love "As Always, Julia" about her endeavors from 1951-1962 testing recipes and writing Mastering The Art of French Cooking - with no publisher willing to take her on. It is all letters between her and a friend in the USA over the 10 years and finally when finally published in October 1961 to August 1962 it sold 100,000 copies even though it was 684 pages long!
Russia/Finland: Wow - most difficult trip I have planned - have gotten to the Helsinki portion and found a lovely restaurant - then found it served Reindeer Tongue Broth - big X through that one! Learned a lesson years ago when we both delightfully ate "veau rognons" to discover back at the hotel with my translation book that it was veal kidneys - they were pretty tiny and a strange shape but the sauce was great:)...eww eww ewweeee
Found the best place to get matryoshka nesting dolls.
