Memories of Toffia, Italy

Catching up and looking at my pictures!  Our first night and this is the view of the city of 250 within the city walls and about 900 within city limits.  No hardware store, no fine restaurants, no movie theater, no parking ramps, no ATM machine but beautiful medieval village.
There were 6 of us and we had 3 lodging places within the walls all privately owned and not open to the public except through the cooking school.  Fran and I shared one and this was our kitchen and it had everything we needed.  One morning a young woman was outside our door frantically trying to tell us something and we figured out she had been climbing up on the roof to get her kitty without success and funny thing was that Fran had just seen the cat looking in our kitchen window so we let her in and she retrieved it through the window!
My bedroom and yes that is my 22" suitcase on the floor that can get me through 3 weeks of vacation.  Our place was owned by a policeman who lives in Rome.
On the way to our lodging and since it is an artistic type village we had beautiful murals painted to cover many walls.  The first night I left by myself to meet Kathy and of course got turned around, lost and rather hyperventilating which made me lose confidence in myself:):):) - Kathy saved me ever after that 1st night.
Our front door and we lucked out as we only had to deal with one key.
On the way home and happy we did not have a rental car as Sally said even very small cars have just a few millimeters to clear the wall.
Sally of the cooking school Convivio Rome - she is Australian and her husband Guido is the cook and fully Italian.  His grandfather was beaten and killed in Rome in the 1920s because he refused to take down his picture of the Pope during the Mussolini era.  I need to read up on that history.
Dinner in the "garden" of Ingrid, Mary and Mardelle's lodging.  Best cheese, prosciutto, wine and more we have ever had.
WIFI - hmmm - the only place was the Teatro (theater where concerts and students resided) - and if the gate was locked we had to kneel and have the computer facing the right direction.
Loved this little "Farmer" delivery vehicle - I have never experienced a little village quite so removed and doing so well.
I was reading this sign and soon an older woman came out to 3 of us and motioned us to come to her front door.  She is a resident artist and has had this studio of all her works since 1991 and doesn't sell a thing but just wants people to see it and she doesn't get to do this very often.  It was free to visit with a small coin box for donations.  Her name is Maria Petrucci.
She had many family artifacts also and was eager to tell us about them - in Italian of course but it is amazing what hand signals and facial responses can do with language barriers.
Mardelle heading down the street - the whole village looked like this.
Happy hour at Kathy's abode - what a beautiful garden and view we had - and good wine and cheese of course.
That's it for tonight - I am up to the 5th day now so the story will continue.
