Summer Fun!

Ross' brother Preston is here for a visit from Oklahoma so we are "doing the town" Minnesota Style - Canterbury Park for live horse racing (free admission, free parking)! - I set aside $10 to spend at $2 per bet.
Preston came out ahead and I am $6.80 down. Picture below #3 was my horse - I picked them based on flower and summer names not statistics (like Sonic Bloom, Dangerous Summer etc). It was fun. Chris and Alex joined us for a couple races and treated us to what else but mini-donuts.

Took Alex to Normandale Japanese garden last week - there is a lovely waterfalls there - free to walk through - notice I know a lot of FREE things - that's what retirement is all about.
Minnesota Renaissance Festival yesterday - we walked through the Enchanted Garden - like this sign. If you know me it usually means "hmmmmm.....wonder what's down there?
The Jones boys trying to figure out the next little event - it was very hot - about 90 degrees tropical! We did watch the jousting and I was entertained by the lady next to me who had an accent. Asked where she was from, reply - Wisconsin. Asked "and before that?" - Russia - got talking about Russia - interesting lady - talked about how every one here eats too much wherever they go - "too much food, too large"!
What is really think is that the Jones boys had their eyeballs hidden by sunglasses and may be sneaking peeks at the belly dancers!
This is William - our gallant knight. Notice his assistant wiping sweat off his head - can't imagine what a suit of armor must feel like when it is 90 and humid - kind of like cooking vegies in aluminum foil at low temp on a gas grill?????
What next - today is a day trip to New Ulm - can't remember if I was ever there or not. Plan to tour the Schell's Brewery.Posted by Picasa
