Brighter Days!

We visited Auschwitz-Birkenau today and it is heart-rending so decided to take a break with bleak blogs. This is a photo of the countryside from Prague to Krakow via the train. It was green and lovely and looks like a slow way of life - not so bad really!

Beautiful shot of Old Town Square in Prague - just as the sun had set - it was truly lovely and such a nice place to visit - would recommend it.

Lovely grilled goat cheese salad from a little cafe in a square in Prague - we have had absolutely delicious food and not too expensive other than the chosen splurges - we are also trying to support the Eastern European economy and believe me, they need it here!!!

Picture from the "salt store" at the salt mine outside of Krakow - seems this salt would cure everything. They had us lick the sides of the wall during the walk 440 steps down into the mine - after a while I thought about how many others had licked that same place....the climate is supposed to inhibit bacteria.

So I have a lot of pictures of Auschwitz-Birkenau to post. Tonight hitting the sack early as we have a 6:47am train to Vienna - this is certainly a life adventure and learning experience but not a particularly easy trip - best way to learn. Maybe I will meet another guy with an open bottle of wine on our first train in Poland!!!....next one is stodgier I am sure and we have seat assignments. Oh and big day tomorrow - get to put my black slacks worn for 6 days now to the bottom of the suitcase!
