Today: MayDay - a big holiday in Italy; we drove in Antonino's car to the train station, train Sorrento to Naples and sat with a couple Germans married 53 years and proud of it! Next train Naples to Rome - missed our stop as we did not understand so had to get off and take the return train for a few minutes (felt much like immigrants), next train Leonardo Express Rome to airport - the "not so far" phrase returned as the hotel on its website says it is connected to the Rome airport with a "Moving Pathway" 5 minutes - hmmm - not - more like a mile and some of the pathways were being worked on!
Proud of: My 22 inch suitcase doing the trick for 2 weeks including a bit of shopping.
Best: The people - everywhere - are so wonderful and we have been treated very well. Met a young woman on the train today who spent half an hour visiting - from under the Communist rule of Cuchescu (spelling incorrect - but a dictator) freed to get a passport in 1989 and moved to Rome - is a marketer for the things that come down from helicopters to rescue people and boats - think the US Airways landing in the Hudson in NYC and the people on the wings. Going home to Bucharest today for the weekend so her mom will make meat and potatoes for her. Has now travelled the world.
Signing off - have an early sendoff tomorrow - anxious to be home.
Ciao - Buonaserra - Arriverdici and all that.
Dee and Ross
