Words and stories on the way. Another fantastic day and last night of 3 in Dublin and heading "up north" to Belfast in the morning! Busy day - visited Kilmainham Gaol (Jail), St. Patrick's Cathedral and Dublin Castle. We did this on our own as I got tickets way before we left home and was not included in the tour and it was super interesting.
There were so many people jailed for stealing food because they were starving.
This is the "basement" of the Gaol aka jail and the cross is where the people were placed to be executed.
Another spot for hangings - many prisoners in the 1919-1921 Irish War of Independence were imprisoned here.
This is one of the cell and the little hole on the right is the only way to look out of it!
This was a view through a small hole into a prayer room or small chapel.
A movie "The Italian Job" from 2003 was filmed here and after we returned home I watched it.
Another little peek into a cell.
And after lots of touring of course you MUST have a "wee bit" of Irish cider and I have to say it was delicious!
And on to Dublin!!!
The heavier Louis XIV got the bigger the chair of the crown had to be:
