Victoria Falls Hotel - airport to Johannesburg and back for an extra night with our friends at 54 on Bath hotel in Johannesburg!
Interesting sign and now I have been to both places! We have ramped our countries visited list up to 51 with the addition of South Africa and Zimbabwe! Lots left if you look at a "Countries of the World" list!
This was the view from our path from the hotel rooms to the breakfast/dinner outside patio. What you see in the background is the bridge over Victoria Falls - barely seen - and the bottom is the river.
There was a whole small park of artwork for sale and for some reason I loved this one but it was about 5 feet tall, made out of concrete and definitely would not fit in my 24 inch travel suitcase!
Better view of the bridge and river:
And back to the same restaurant with our good friends and the tour has ended so we can "gossip". We had an excellent waitress and so much fun and our food and drinks were so cheap. We talked to her about her job and she says she works on "commission" which we think meant tips. So for our $50 for 4 meal we gave her $25 and she was almost in tears and so happy. Think about it - $25 for the four of us is nothing and to her it is most like several days wages.
Yes - our bed and every night we had to make sure and pull the mosquito netting fully over it so we won't get malaria - and then if you have to pee during the night you need to find your way out of the net!
Herb and flower gardens outside our room in this old hotel and this building was called The Stables and yes for the British Royalty it was horse stables - pretty awesome.
The view of the lap pool from our 9th floor hotel room window and yes we did walk down there and check it out and found a shady spot to sit.
I thought this mannequin and shirt and of course the hair were pretty awesome.
