Record Rain - too much water!!!

Life is Good!!! or as my mother would have said "I'll rest when I am dead" - I think of that often and I like it.

Chris at 40 years old now did the Grandma's Marathon yesterday in 3hr 55 minutes his best time ever and personal goal.  Wow - how does this happen???  That's 26 miles and some of it hilly.  Lucy is the cheerleader and Alex on the right appears to be more interested in a doughnut or somesuch sweet!

Last night was my turn to host the old friend work group - love these people!!!  We have so much fun, laugh a lot and the guys are a hoot.  At dinner the question comes up - not sure why - asking who pees in the shower?   Hmm - two guys admit to yes of course and "why not".  When asked if the women do  - firm NO WAY!  Leads to a long deliberation about this topic.  Onto next one:  We have been trying to think of a name for the group - an option is FAB 6 - like the Beatles are Fab4 and we think we are all pretty fabulous.  One guy today offers "Whizzing in the Shower Gang" in an email - not naming names here!!!

This is pretty much how the nights with them go - talk, laugh, sip the wine!

My buddie Jeffie - Donna's husband - and he does keep everyone entertained!  He does know his limitations per his wifie!!

25 inches of rain so far in 2014 ad setting a new record since 1871.  Wow! Yesterday I "HAD" to pick up my library book on hold and ran into this sign a few blocks from home - hmmm - detour.

Later I called Ross at home to "tour with me" and this is the Road Under Water - a creek overflow.

France Avenue is a huge main street running from Bloomington all the way to near downtown Minneapolis.  This was Bloomington's portion - marshland had overflowed onto this very busy street and it was closed to traffic.

We looked out our front window one morning and this coyote was trying to outstare me - well, really he had spotted a squirrel.  Coincidentally we also notice we no longer have rabbits eating all our shrubs and stuff.

After one 24 hour power outage and then another 7 hour outage a few days later and a full sump pump in the basement that was impossible to lower with us bailing out with ice cream pails we invested in a big generator and 2 propane tanks - miracle to behold.

Power out:  Dry your clothes on mop, broom and rake handles - just like on the farm!!!

Alex and Lucy are very creative and they were excited that they got to spend the power outage with us.  They decided they could ride their driveway "vehicles" and fill yard waste bags, attach with bungee cords and ride around like crazy.

Overnighter - they thought it was quite cool to be without power and have to eat ice cream and play board games with headlamps.  Thank goodness I have a huge supply of small flashlights, headlamps and batteries.

Summer is going rapidly as usually and our schedule is quite full but it is by choice which is a good thing!!!
