We have had a great holiday season of entertaining - last night was the last hurrah - do Roger and Barb look like they are having fun even though they have a freshman in college????? We have adopted a British tradition of using "Christmas crackers"; this started when Ross worked in England in 1995-96. They are hollow cardboard tubes that contain a hat (note the hats!) and joke or saying and a small trinket gift. The ends are pulled and there is a "crack" or small bang and stuff flies out. Roger was lucky enough to get a teeny-tiny nail clipper and everyone gets a paper crown. They were invented in 1847 by a man who sold bon-bons (sweets) and when the market fell he needed a gimmick. We have used them in our holiday events for over 10 years.
Lucy Day last week - both Alex and Lucy love my resistance band and pilates band - they really feel like they are exercising but they mostly like me to hold one end and they the other and they let their end go and it flies at me. I have learned to not let them get too far away. You can see that she is quite serious.

Books: I got the greatest book from a friend called The Art of Pilgrimage: The Seeker's Guide to Making Travel Sacred (Phil Cousineau) - well guess what? It is just getting me to make a longer list of places I want to see which now include Ephesus and Cappadonia in Turkey and the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania
