In spite of bitter unseasonable cold and windchills we had a wonderful time with daughter Jenny and 7 year old granddaughter Rooke visiting for 9 days. Every morning when Rooke heard me in the kitchen she joined me for breakfast and it started another lovely day for "Grammy". We had something planned every day including a couple of Alex's hockey games.
Last night all of us went out for the "last night" dinner at Mall of America. The little girls got all dressed up in outfits that matched the doll outfits.
Bapa, Grammy, Lucy, Rooke and Alex who does very well putting up with the silly girls and in fact chooses to spend nights with them at our house. My house reminds me so much of my mom's house which seemed to always have a load of small grandchildren doing mostly whatever they wanted to do and sleeping wherever there was room.
Morning breakfast with the motto "What happens at Grammy's stays at Grammy's" - homemade pancakes with a LOAD of powdered sugar. Alex was pleased with his creation.
This is the second year Rooke has been able to enjoy the snow, shovels and sleds and she loves it and never once said she was cold like the rest of us!!!
We drove to New Prague one day to visit Jenny's college friend who just had her 3rd little child and she was a doll and I got to hold her most of the time we were there. I did go on a California trip when 3 of these girls were in college and we all shared a hotel room - 4 of us in one room and I was the "adult in charge".
So what's next!! Got our tickets to go to Italy first , then France. Ross has a 55 year class reunion this spring and I'm sure spring will be here before we know it!
