Sing a Song of Sixpence!

We have a lot of creative people in our extended family.  Matt (spouse of Amy's sister Katie) made this apple pie from scratch and the crust contained Calvados apple liqueur from France of course.  I touched the thing in the center and he said it was a pie bird.......read on....
continuing with the title...."Four and twenty blackbirds baked in a pie, when the pie was opened the birds began to sing....."  If you insert the ceramic pie bird to let out the steam the pie will not boil over in the oven and you do not needs slits in the crust to release the steam....ancient marvels for sure.  Little bird is on my Christmas list.
The Modern Family.  The weather turned on us suddenly with strong winds, sleet and rapidly dropping temperatures which meant an indoor family photo.  We had such a great Thanksgiving dinner last night and a fun time as always.  I call this picture Tunnel of Love - or Couch Full or Crazies?
Scott is a fun "child at heart" and when he asked the little kids if they wanted to taste the reddi whip they were overcome with joy when they found he could shoot it right into their mouth - whipped cream shooters:).  Lucy won the prize for the biggest.
Three cousins - what a great idea for a party!  The four of them (little Nels not in the picture) ran around like little kids do, denied jumping on beds when I heard thumps upstairs except for little Nels who answered "yes we did" to my question.  He does not understand lying yet:)
Have had a great time with Ross' brother here this week.  To celebrate his last night  tonight we will enjoy a dinner out and as Amy says "looking forward to a quiet dinner without kids running around in their underwear" - Amen!
